Santogold closes off Nottingham festival

Santogold brought the Nottingham leg of the Dot To Dot festival to a dramatic close last night (May 25) as she performed to a packed Rescue Rooms.

Queues of fans eager to see the Brooklyn singer snaked around the block for an hour before she came on at midnight - and many were locked out as the venue reached capacity.

Performing with two backing dancers, who were wearing flamboyant baggy trousers and sunglasses, her choreographed dancing went down a storm with the audience as she worked through tracks including ?L.E.S. Artistes? and the climatic ?Creator?.

Expanded this year to two days, Dot To Dot played host to an eclectic mix of new and established bands. Dirty Pretty Things headlined Saturday in Rock City with a set that included ?Bang Bang You?re Dead? and ?Blood Thirsty Bastards?.

Meanwhile, over in Rescue Rooms, Chrome Hoof brought Saturday night to a close playing the most spectacular set of the weekend. The eight-piece performed their progressive jazz/metal/dance amalgamation dressed in gold sequinned robes to loud applause. People danced one minute for ?Spokes of Uridium?, then head-banged the next when the bassist donned a metal helmet to provide growling vocals for the death metal ?Mad Air Punch.?

Before Santogold on Sunday, Mystery Jets played a jubilant set in Rock City runing through tracks drawn largely from their new album, including ?Flakes', ?Young Love? and ?Two Doors Down?. They were received with mass sing-a-longs and frenetic dancing.

Bjork allegedly attacks photographer

Icelandic singer Bjork has allegedly attacked a photographer at Auckland International Airport.
According to reports, the singer ripped photographer Glenn Jeffrey's shirt in half after he ignored a request to stop taking pictures of the singer.
Jeffrey told the New Zealand Herlad: "I took a couple of pictures and I got about three or four frames of her... and as I turned and walked away she came up behind me, grabbed the back of my black skivvy (sweatshirt) and tore it down the back."
"As she did this she fell over, she fell to the ground. At no stage did I touch her or speak with her."
The newspaper's website has reported that neither the newspaper nor Jeffrey intend to file charges against the singer.
A spokesperson for Auckland Police said that the alleged incident was not being investigated.
